Alarmist Miniatures

Sorry its been a while – My CFS/M.E has been pretty bad lately. I’ve a couple of blog posts lined up on Hungary 1848-49 – one is the new 24 codes going onto the website and the other is a report on a little demo I did at Partizan. Todays blog is to advertise a games day at Land of Iron Museum Skinningrove on Saturday 30th March. There are 6 participation games running – each lasting an hour with 2-4 players. They are all based on What if? and historical events in Skinningrove. I’m running a 40mm Napoleonic skirmish based on a French landing in 1803. (only twice in the day though as I need my rest) using my own sculpts based on James Gillray’s carictures. Its £10 for the day and the aim is to raise funds for the museum. Here is a link to the facebook page for it https://www.facebook.com/events/1011675457176690?ref=newsfeed and one to the ticket page https://www.tickettailor.com/events/landofiron/1165648

Chris Pringle has kindly written some words (8 pages of A5 with pics) as an introduction to Hungarian War of Independence 1848 -49. It is available for free as a PDF download here on the Keelmen site (and hopefully on this blog) and as a printed booklet at shows I attend. It includes some managable introductory army lists. Im plowing on with sculpting/tinkering for HW1848-49 and have 18 new codes going into a mould this week (Mainly National guard variations and a few more Grenz including a drummer) Im working on Hussar heads which can be used on Perry Napoleonic Austrian Hussar (Plastic boxed set) After that im onto peasents/partizans/irregulars …. phew.
Happy New Year. Ive changed the postage formula so its cheaper to post small orders and I’ve added new Anglo-Scots pictures. New arquebusiers and re-done archers will be online next week

Battle Ground Queens Campus Sports Hall, Stockton-on-Tees, TS17 6BH.

First trip out for Keelmen (and the terrain in a suitcase diplay). A mini stall at Border Reivers Show 2022. Went ok and a good chance to think about what to change for future stalls. Thanks to Guy, Paul and Grahamfor their help.
Now I need to get the Jacobites and Border Reiver stuff onto the website asap.

Usefull books from my reading lists which, a ong with Marbot, informed some of the Jim Bowen sculpts alterations and additions I made . All very readable
“An act for preventing tumults and riotous assemblies, and for the more speedy and effectual punishing the rioters. Whereas of late many rebellious riots and tumults have been in divers parts of this kingdom, to the disturbance of the publick peace, and the endangering of his Majesty’s person and government, and the same are yet continued and fomented by persons disaffected to his Majesty, presuming so to do, for that the punishments provided by the laws now in being are not adequate to such heinous offences” *
Introduced and passed in 1714 came into effect 1st August 1715.
